Help Your Pilots Take the Next Step in Their FAA Medical Evaluation

When a sleep study is needed, give your patients an at-home option. Effortless Sleep Diagnostics offers Type II polysomnography using Onera’s patch-based technology.
Type II home sleep testing is an accepted study type under FAA OSA assessment requirements.

Detailed Sleep Testing, Completed at Home

Patient-applied Onera sensors record sleep and breathing together during an overnight study in familiar surroundings.

Four Patches. One At-Home Study.

Four Patches. One At-Home Study.

Your pilot completes an overnight study at home using the Onera Sleep Test System. Four compact, patch-mounted sensors record sleep and breathing data for specialist interpretation.

Sleep Signals
Brain activity (EEG), eye movements (EOG), and muscle activity (EMG) provide information about sleep itself.

Breathing Measurements
Airflow through a nasal cannula, respiratory effort, and blood oxygen levels capture breathing during the night.

Additional Clinical Detail
Heart activity (ECG), leg muscle activity, and body position add context to the recorded study.

Common Questions From AMEs

General turnaround is approximately two weeks. Timing can vary, so pilots with a deadline should contact ESD to discuss their situation.

Yes. Interpretation by a board-certified sleep specialist is included in ESD’s study fee.

ESD sends the completed report to the pilot, who shares it with their AME. The final interpreted report includes a written diagnosis section.

If the device fails or the collected data is insufficient, ESD provides a repeat study at no additional charge.

The study provides information for the pilot’s medical evaluation. Testing and specialist interpretation are separate from certification decisions, which follow the applicable AME and FAA requirements. See the FAA’s OSA guidance for AMEs for assessment and certification procedures.
