Will insurance cover my home sleep study?
ESD Health does not accept insurance. We are a direct pay service, which allows us to keep the process fast and simple. We accept HSA and FSA payments and can provide documentation you may choose to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Coverage is not guaranteed and varies by plan.

What is a home sleep study and how does it work?
A home sleep study is a convenient, cost-effective way to test for sleep disorders, such as Obstructive Sleep Apnea, from the comfort of your own bed. We provide you with an easy-to-use testing device and simple instructions. After one night of sleep, you return the device, and our board-certified sleep physicians interpret the results.
Is the home sleep test accurate?
Yes. Our home sleep tests are FDA-approved and deliver accurate, clinical-grade results. Home sleep testing is highly effective for diagnosing sleep disorders and is recommended by many sleep specialists and insurance providers.
Is this a Type II sleep study?
Yes, the Onera STS is a clinically validated Type II sleep study device, designed for use in both home and clinical settings. When used in a sleep clinic under the supervision of a technician, it functions as a Type I study.
What conditions can this study detect?
The Onera STS can detect various sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, insomnia, restless leg syndrome, and other common sleep issues.
How is this different from a hospital sleep study?

Is your home sleep test FAA-compliant?
Yes, our home sleep study meets FAA and Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) requirements for pilots undergoing evaluation for Obstructive Sleep Apnea and other sleep disorders. Our process ensures results are properly documented and accepted by AMEs.
How quickly can I get tested and receive results for my FAA medical exam?
We ship your sleep test within 24–48 hours. After you complete the test and return the device, results are typically available within 3–5 business days. We prioritize fast turnaround times for pilots with upcoming medical certifications.
Will the FAA accept a home sleep study instead of an in-lab sleep test?
Yes, the FAA accepts data from our compliant home sleep testing devices as the results are interpreted by a board-certified physician. Our reports include all documentation required for AMEs.
Can the results be shared with my AME or VA physician?
Absolutely. With your permission, we’ll send them directly.
How fast can I get tested and cleared if needed urgently?

How is the device returned after use?
We include a prepaid FedEx return label, making it easy to drop off your package at any FedEx retail location.
